Where passive fits

The opposite trade-off from V-Tag.

Passive UHF tags carry no battery — they're powered by the reader's own signal when they pass a portal or a handheld scan. That makes them cheap enough to put on every item, not just the high-value ones. The trade is fixed infrastructure: a chokepoint reader or a handheld has to see the tag. Put an active V-Tag on the container or cart to locate it, and passive tags on the items inside to inventory the contents — both report into the same AssetWorx! instance.
