Finally, a GPS tag that's affordable.

Tracking assets across indoor and outdoor spaces has always been a challenge. Active RFID handles indoors well, but outdoor tracking has been expensive — traditional GPS tags carry a recurring, per-tag subscription that put the technology out of reach for most operations.

V-Tag GPS is InfinID's long-range outdoor tag, with coverage of up to nearly four square miles per gateway. It takes the monthly subscription out of the equation, which opens GPS tracking to far more businesses and shortens the return on investment.

Indoors, GPS gives out.

V-Tag GPS is excellent outdoors, but indoor spaces rarely get good GPS reception — try it on your phone inside a building and you'll see. That's where V-Tag active mesh takes over.

Setting up indoor location with passive fixed readers means wiring a reader everywhere you want coverage — in a large facility that's a lot of expensive, time-consuming installation. With V-Tag active mesh, you place a small location tag wherever you want awareness and the self-healing Zigbee mesh handles the rest. Assets report their zone or room-level area hands-free, with the mesh settling in about 3 to 4 minutes. It's zone-level location — not RTLS, not real-time, not a beacon-positioning system.

Indoors and out at an aerospace MRO site.

One aerospace MRO operation needed to track assets both indoors and outdoors — work happened across roughly a dozen buildings, while the surrounding open airfield covered several square miles.

• Outdoors — subscription GPS tags were ruled out on cost. V-Tag GPS was introduced as a field trial and covered the entire airfield from a single gateway.
